Year 6 Art- Maya Masks

16th December 2024

Today, Year 6 had a jam-packed day of art! We researched Maya masks and recorded our findings in our sketchbooks. Next, we designed our own Maya masks, using the research to give us inspiration! After break, we developed our knowledge of techniques for using clay and experimented with these. We learnt how to use score, slip, stick and smooth to attach two pieces of clay together. Finally, we used clay to create our very own Maya masks. They are all so beautiful and creative! Once they are dry, we are hoping to paint and varnish them. Take a look at the pictures below to see how we got on.
