Year 4 'Paint What Matters' Project

1st February 2025
During the Autumn term Year 4 took part in a wonderful project with Kettle's Yard: Paint What Matters. The project took place over 6 sessions and the children were supported by an artist, Josh Bilton.

The children were encouraged to think about journeys they had been on and to create paintings based on the weather they might have experienced on these journeys. In the second session the children used permanent markers on clear film acetate to illustrate birds making real or imaginary journeys. The children wrote about their imaginary journeys.

In the next sessions, Daisy, a dancer and choreographer came to work with the children. She supported the children to create movement as if they were a flock of birds on a journey together.

The children also took part in a special assembly with Mrs Rawlins where they completed live paintings in front of the whole school.
What an amazing project!

The children's work will be displayed in a special exhibition at Kettle's Yard from 26th February 2025 to 9th March 2025.
